Its official, two weeks ago the Citrus County Commission lifted the burn ban on yard waste and yesterday the Hernando County Commission followed suit. The ban was lifted due to the rainy weather conditions that have become part of a way of life recently! The lift on the burn ban does not include household garbage, only the burning of yard waste.

The ban was but into place back in February due to the drought conditions that caused the index to rise above 600! The index is currently down to 55, according to Hernando Fire Rescue Chief Mike Nickerson.
