Spring Gardening in Hernando and Citrus Counties, Florida

Filed under: "Green" real estate, Gardening Tips — Tags: — admin @ 11:05 am

For those of you in Hernando and Citrus Counties that have not started your spring garden yet, don’t get discouraged! When living in Florida the gardening rules change! You can’t plant your garden around the times that you did up north as the sun is much to hot down here in Paradise!

I may have a solution for you though, if you plan on growing a small garden to sustain a small family, pot gardening may be the answer! Pot gardening provides opportunities to keep your precious fruits and vegetables out of the hot summer Florida sun when it has become to much for the plants. This form of gardening also enables you to keep your plants off the ground, which will aid in keeping many of the bugs away from your crops.

If you have already started your spring garden, but you haven’t gotten everything that you wanted to grow in the ground, use pots for the things that you haven’t started yet. There are many advantages to have both a pot garden and a ground garden!
