Good News! Ray Nielson, owner of Green World Path in Hernando County, has decided to work with the county to develop a business marketing plan to promote Little Rock Cannery. With enough people working for the survival of the cannery, perhaps the county could then reduce funding for the facility.
People need to know that it exists, according to Nielson, “We found that very few people know about it, including myself, and I’ve lived here for 40 years.”
It was decided during Thursday nights classes at Green World Path that Neilson would contribute to ’saving the cannery’ through public knowledge, grants, funding options and volunteers.
Jim Adkins, County Commissioner, is seeking to remove the cannery from the tax rolls completely and is speaking with the members of the Hernando County Fair to see if they would want to take over the operations.
With the Nation looking towards a greener future, closing the cannery could be a mistake, if you would like to help save the Little Rock Cannery, please contact Ray Nielson of Dori Bon, events coordinator of Green World Path, at 352-799-0200.
